Like My Ceiling Fan

Like My Ceiling Fan

A Poem by Aaliyah Davison

Stream of consciousness

Tell me if you're lying
to me and it's okay like
snatching up innocence
like rape like just not visiting
the sick like spelling words
wrong like constructed racism like
leaving blankets unfolded like
tell me if you're not genuine
and it's fine like eating
a hard persimmon like teasing my child
like fermented kombucha like
touching a moth like
cleaning not your fan wings
spinning going 'round
never ending
how can you see
I can't
become cross-eyed
oblivious to your own stare
keep going

I enjoyed this poem. Like falling into someone mind and learning secret thoughts and places. Each line added to the tale leaving the reader with something to think about. Thank you Aaliyah for sharing the excellent poetry. I'm on my 13 hours of day work schedule and I will return Wednesday to read more of your work.
