Childhood expectations versus reality in my opinion

I was a normal kid, living in the normal throes of life,

Using my hands for drawing with crayons like Hannibal Lecter,

Murdering the paper and walls with splotches of red, pink, and white,

Making a murder scene while wearing the face of a happy, innocent child.

And then I grew up, living a life too thick for even a long knife,

Living and throwing my chips like a discus in the sector,

Living in the clear dark away from the opaque light,

Living in the plague of broken innocence that I wish could be more mild,

What we were taught is wrong, so currently blatant it’s like a doorbell going “ding-dong”,

That the world is open and shut, that so many things are exactly what it seems,

That everyone has the ability to make the cut, that one can be anything that to be they dream,

But yet in reality these are all lies, these are the “truths” that we were given in large supply,

And I tend to approve of these.

Would you have preferred a childhood where you knew you were screwed from the start?

Where innocence would leave and then in darkness be ripped apart?

Where things change, for better or worse, where we would’ve found out truths that are so strange?

While, we will never get that unbroken seal again, we must bask in the reminiscence of a former life, whether wonderful or plain.

So you see, I’m glad we were fed lies,

That our parents deliberately hid us from life’s cries,

Of the sinners and delivered battling in the impenetrable mist,

Until we were carefully delivered into the waiting hands of the entity that I and many more insists exists,

God himself.
