Smoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors

A Poem by C. M. Miller

She whispered into my ear,

I can make you feel like a man,

but do not ever assume

I am your woman.

I can feed your ego,

but your heart will starve

for lack of love.

You will try to hold onto me,

but will discover that I've

been nothing more than

smoke, shadows, and mirrors . . .

It was a loud whisper . . .

Some women are experts in their acts of subterfuge. Indeed, many things in this world are smoke and mirrors; reminding us of those words from the Great and Powerful Wizard of OZ, "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" Great write!

ouch. not all is at it appears. sometimes we see what we want to see. perception is 9/10 of reality. illusion can be tough to swallow when the curtain rises and truth is revealed. there is trouble even in paradise ... :)
