Elle's Story

Elle's Story

A Poem by Aditi Shankar
"

Modified Cinderella story in the form of a poem

"

A girl named Elle, her mother died

And she a lot cried.

So her father married another woman

Who already had two daughters suzie and simran.

Elle’s stepmom treated her as a servant

As she was waiting for her to be sent.

Her only friends were her pets

Who helped her in all of her stepmom’s trap nets.

A horse, a dog, hens and mice

Elle used to feed all of them rice.

The king made an announcement of a ball,

Elle wanted to spend time with the prince within the four wall.

With suzie and simran’s  torn clothes, her pet

Made her a beautiful dress set.

When Elle came wearing the beautiful dress,

Her step sisters tore her dress with jealousy stress.

Then a fairy godmother appeared,

Who had a pumpkin stick which was rather weird.

She transferred Elle’s torn dress to a beautiful gown,

And made a beautiful carriage which led her to the town.

The fairy godmother told her she should come before 12:00 clock,

Otherwise again her gown will turn into the torn frock.

As soon as Elle entered to the ball, the prince felt she was the best of all,

And Elle happily danced with the prince in the Ball.

Then 12 struck

And Elle ran back, but her unluck

She dropped her glass shoe on the stairs, which was shining,

The prince picked it up striving.

Elle dreamed day and night,

About the last Ball sight.

And hugging the prince tight,

This made way for her life’s light.

Her step mom and sister’s were suspicious about her behavior,

Which made them keener.

When they got to know prince danced with Elle,

Jealousy shook their belly.

An announcement was made by the king,

That whomever the glass shoe fits, with them the king will do the wedding.

When the prince came (actually Elle’s bridegroom),

Her step-mom locked her in a room.

Her step sisters tried the shoe in a snap,

While that time her pets freed her from the trap.

When Elle came down,

On her step mom’s face there was a frown.

The shoe exactly fit her,

In her step mom’s eyes there was a flash of anger.

Then the prince happily took Elle to the palace,

From then, Elle’s life became a joyful place.
