Shark Teeth Under Feet

Shark Teeth Under Feet

A Poem by adrienne gauthier

                                                                                        The waves will come,
and that's the way love goes.
It's hard to say goodbye,
with sand between your toes.
I took your picture down,
and gave it to the tide.
I let the ocean's salt,
burn you out of my eyes.
"Where did the good go? I'm feeling incomplete."
The good walked away,
with shark teeth under feet.

You know, ordinarily I am not a huge fan of poetry that rhymes, but I have to tell you, it works in this piece because none of it sounds forced..."I took your picture down, and gave it to the tide. I let the ocean's salt, burn you out of my eyes." That is pure gold. Exceptional write. I'm pleased to have read this...thank you so much for sharing your work with us.
