On Working Sunday

An analysis of a southern gathering.

ON WORKING SUNDAY

A large percentage of residents in Conyers, Georgia, clamor together on Sunday mornings, using precious fossil fuels to transport themselves to the only place where spiritual pleasure receptors may be fondled. Though the culminating orgasm may be lesser, or more likely falsified, these events ignite the incredible conflagration of angst that spreads like an undiagnosed STD.
As is custom and ritualistic – church ends with a sort of mammalian, ape-like gathering, in which many God-fearing individuals feast in a singular location.
Many people choose to eat in restaurants, whose employees anticipate the systematic flocking of churchgoers, as the ritualistic feast is common knowledge. People, engaged in a system, are bound to their status as animals.
Of course, the issue lies in the behavioral patterns of these impressionable people. Spending the groggy Sunday morning in a clove of sub-existence, they offer themselves to a supposed higher power and admit the fact that they have no control over their own lives.
Given the economical situation as of 2008, this old concept rattles an already delicate collective psyche. Man is the ultimate master of his own life, and though some passively think this is true, they are dulled by the obstruction of pre-determination. This grants many amnesty from responsibility in their own actions – people become lax in behavior and thought. Control becomes scarce even in the mind of the controller.
The human invention of balance becomes the necessary tool to align what has become a deviation. The higher power rules Man, who is informed that do to the will of their God, they control nothing.
However, the modern convenience of service (also a human invention) offers an alternative to this powerlessness.
Humans are deeply disturbed by a mental handicap of any kind. The most powerful form of perception and control has been violated. In a sense, it is a sexual violation – being a violation of passion, will, and human form. And again, the sedative tool of balance surfaces, and a passive yet intimate fury against those who would be under the underlings of God takes a shape.
It is the first true erection of the day.
In this community, many who based fulfillment on money have lost a sense of purpose and direction, an already shallow pool. Children become a financial burden as well as targets for angry mental masturbation. The focus shifts to self-preservation.
The mind finds ways to counter the overwhelming senses of helplessness and lost control, and all senses of fulfillment become passive. The endorphins caused by control and satisfaction must now be triggered by domination and anger.
Returning to the basis for this essay – as people gravitate towards control and anger, the collective system of people in workplace servitude receive waves of violation from the violated – people who passively mimic the cardinal position of God – a device used by some to passively fortify the pleasure received from soul displacement. It is a cold and unnoticed syringe in communal flesh.
