A different Reflection

 

Vision is gone from me

Emotion now drives this train

My heart for your heart

Is the only way that I can remain

Same crime, different time

Same punishment I ask for me

One with the heart, one with the head

Wrong seemed right at least in the vision that I see

I got hungry for love

I hungered so I ate

Problem was

I ate off another’s plate

Consumed in the have nots

I only thought about me

And gave my time to someone

That didn’t make me feel ugly

The mirror lied to me

And made me search for a different reflection

It made me seek outside of myself

For love and affection

Now fear consumes me

It’s hard to be honest with myself

Because that means being honest with you

I fear that if I do, we would have nothing left.

Very well written and use of metaphors. from time to time we all see a different reflection .. sometimes not one too pretty.. i have always heard honesty is the best policy.. does this apply to matters of the heart.. it would be up to the individual it seems.. I like this poem very much.. emotional and heartfelt.
