Signs

Signs

A Poem by Annette Pisano Higley

The signs on the locked door say
"Beware-sad when alone",
"Beware-frightened when undisturbed"
"Beware-maudlin when unstimulated",
"Beware-melancholy when isolated",
"Beware- poet lives here."
Approach at your own risk.

Strange how it is .. how thoughts tap on our mind-walls to escape but, insist on silence to do so. Or it it the poet making love to his or her own words, needing precious quiet to have everything reach perfection at the finish. Perhaps.

Love the words on your sign, perfet, smile-proof and enticing, dear you.

Think my sign might say, Don't want to talk.. must be sick. Chocolate cookie would make better.

Hmmm...all my signs would be completely opposite of these:

Understand this: Happiest when alone
Know this: Must be undisturbed
Confirmed: Watching Netflix when unstimulated
Best Believe: Ecstatic when isolated
Beware: Writer does not live here alone Applications to enter must include 15,000 word essay on why I should rent you a cage in this zoo.

Haaaaaaa! Great! :)
Let's not forget prose writers. I'm distracted so easy when concentrating. That "groove" in which I create is fragile as egg shells. Here's to quiet writing time, free of disturbances.

Yes you must have your sign too Sam! Thanks for the r&r!
I've seldom willingly sought a silence to "write" within. I guess it's about how we "focus" our intent?

I don't await 2 or 3 AM willfully - those just happen from time-to-time. Kitchen tables have a comfort BUT so do Cafe`tables, bus stops, car seats, planes, trains ...ferrys. Church pews, libraries, restaurants... even bars and sea walls.
