Mother

Mother

A Poem by Aimee

A mother is strong, selfish, and insincere

The mother I came to know

A portrait of a monster hidden beneath a honeyed smile

No matter what you do, you can never escape

All of the hidden anger and the hate

She stands still on flaming floors

Awaiting your next call

Standing still, quite silently

Waiting for the pressure to take its toll

And when the clock chimes 12

And everyone is sound asleep

She takes out a belt

And starts to whip

You beg for mercy

But she can never hear

For a mother is only there

To fuel your fear
