Winter

Winter

A Poem by aimless_wanderer

Bone chilling snow drifts through the soul,
freezing to pieces leaving a gaping hole.
Heating hands on the radiating coal,
the frigid winds are taking their toll.

Water to ice, clear as glass.
Receding blood, he loses mass.
Lying, unmoving all animals pass,
even the slow-moving obnoxious bass.

Dying unnoticed he gives a shriek,
echoing off the high cliff's peak.
Feeble and brittle he is too weak,
to call once more for help to seek.

Man has lost, he gives no heat,
forever waiting in a field of wheat.
Animals graze feeding off his meat,
a heart, no drum there isn't a beat.
