The Thought

The Thought

A Story by Michael Reisman

She turned over in her bed and put her hand under the pillow. Just before falling asleep, Katy thought about giving Michael a goodnight kiss in own mind. He lived in a different state as he was now also in bed ready for sleep. Michael felt a kiss on his cheek and an image of Katy appeared in his mind as he turned over and put his hand under the pillow. The next day, just before waking, he gave Katy a good morning kiss. She felt it as an image of Michael appeared in her mind. Maybe distance has no boundaries when it comes to a simple act of thinking about the other. Case in point, in this short love story about Katy and Michael...

Hi Michael. It's very true that we can visualise actions in our minds. You seem to be implying that the thought can transmitt the feeling of the kiss through distance or is it just that each other knows that they will be imagining the kiss. There are one of two things that are a bit ambiguous. First, what is the significance of them putting their hands under the pillow? Should the end of the first sentence be 'in her own mind.' In sentence 2 would it be better to start with although and miss out the as. You second last sentence would be a good conclusion without the case in point sentence. To be honest this make for a romantic little tale but I'm not sure that
readers will buy into this in these days. You have got the making of an interesting idea here but I feel it needs a bit of depth e g he imagines the kiss then wakes to find a strange woman in bed with him.
