Beauty In The Broken

Beauty In The Broken

A Poem by Aaron Jinks

Beauty In The Broken

Will you say, “please don’t go,”

if I say “I’m in love with you”?

Do anything in your power to stop my hand from touching that knob

if I hold you like you’re what’s keeping me tied down to sanity?

Can you sign every hug and kiss and touch with reasons why I deserve you

if I excessively be the person you somehow fell for?

How could you love something so unsound

when you deserve so much better?

Your ability to see beauty in the broken is unmatched

and I’ll never know why you take me over everyone.

That’s okay, though, because I’m yours,

you thankfully take me above all the others,

and that’s something that can never be taken for granted.

Ever.
