The Music in Your Head

The Music in Your Head

A Poem by Alex

I try to listen to music with you.

I try to listen to beats that make you dance

I instead listen to your smile

I instead listen to your eyes

It’s more than music

It’s more than that you said

It’s a heartbeat that you feel in your head

The music in your head I am sure is symphonic

It’s worthy of a second glance

I wonder what you hear in your head

All I hear is silence

As you close your eyes and nod

You are listening to the music in your head

And I envy the music

Can I listen to the music in your head?

Because it understands you more than I do

Can I listen to the music in your head?

It’s so lucky to know you

Can I listen to the music in your head?

You hold my hand as you continue to dance

Ah, there it is, the music in your head

It is beat, it is loud, it is sharp, it is you

I close my eyes and listen to the music in our head.

I like this. I get a very warm and loving picture in my head from reading it.

Though, when you say:
"It’s more then music
It’s more then that you said"
As well as:
"Because it understands you more then I do"
Do you not mean THAN rather than then?
Then would be an expression of time. Ex: I brushed my teeth, and THEN I went to bed.
Than would be a comparison. Ex. I used mouthwash rather THAN brushing my teeth before going to bed.
