It will only hurt for a second

It will only hurt for a second

A Poem by alice3wonderland

Heart-wrenching

Gut-clenching

Want

Boiling deep inside of me

This insatiable need

That just burns within my soul

I reach out and I take control

I grab your face and you are quick to reciprocate

Although I fear we are not needing the same thing

It serves some kind of purpose to both of us

I look at you and I feel nothing

No spark but I can't seem to get enough of you

Every part of my body you touch you leaves a path of fire

Someone touching me in such a way...

I lay next to you and you smile down at me

I inwardly cringe at what I've done but I smile just the same

I turn on my side and I silently die

You don't notice and that's ok

I look to the ceiling once you've fallen asleep

I pray to God that maybe one day...

It's a self-defeating act, answering physical desire while sacrificing that deeper need of our heart's desires. It's confusing and painful and ultimately unrewarding, leaving emptiness and sorrow and self-loathing. And, what might the partner be feeling? Is there truer motives there? If so, it's a betrayal of that partner's honest intent. Your poem carries the reader into all that turmoil.

yw :)
Glimpses of erotic desire and a misunderstanding of love. Well done.
