Lost

Lost

A Poem by Alisa Js

all that's left
is this small, paper cup
wrinkled and torn
like yesterday's news
abating,
like our disappointing start

how could you leave me
in the middle of a memory
how could you stand there
and lie,
before my eyes had a chance to see

I have come to the conclusion
that I never healed,
words wailing about like splatter
and yet, it's frozen outside
as life blows the wrong way
upside down

these tangled up emotions
have no where to go
fighting against a sad song
from some broken radio

in another part of her mind
she managed a practiced smile,
one learned from years of denial

looking around, she knew it was over
wanting to see just one last time,
and then, it dawned on her
this was never real

she wondered if she could find her keys
in the middle of this lonesome land
where nothing seemed right,
and it was far too quiet....

Hi
Some solid metaphor here, and poignant statements in few words like 'fighting against a sad song
from some broken radio" and "she managed a practiced smile, one learned from years of denial"

Thanks Matt
in another part of her mind
she managed a practiced smile,
one learned from years of denial

looking around, she knew it was over
wanting to see just one last time,
and then, it dawned on her
this was never real

the truth is always hard to digest :)
it was a true glimpse of the reality of relationship that passes by... thanks for sharing such wonderful creations...

'I have come to the conclusion that I never healed ,words wailing .. '

Fact or fiction, these words sting the senses. Life and love can hurt like hell, does til suddenly the heart has been bruised so much, drowning in one's own tears seems to be the only option. Seems this is how 'she' felt.. that what had seemed so true and real had been nothing but...

Was a little thrown by what seemed to be first person speaking then became.. 'she'..

You're very welcome, Alisa.
From Holy Grail to Golden Chalice then to bashed paper cup - we view 'that love' from the different angles in a sorry progression.
I felt this one Alisa. Painfully beautiful.

Hello Tony,
So nice to hear from you again. Thank you for your comments and thoughts....

Sadly this paints the picture of a harsh reality that exists, the realization, not everything is as it appears, nor what it seems. Certainly something far too many have come to face. When discovered, it's disconcerting, hurtful, toxic, spawning resentment and pain...

Thanks, David..

Sometimes the reality of a situation makes it seem so unreal.

Oh so very true..
when a love leaves, it is far too quiet...but then we hear that song on the radio---relate all too well, and then pray for more quiet...
to think and then accept that it was never real...that the other person lied...that is devastating..and i have felt this before---nothing seems to assuage the pain.
so well described here.
