with hushed tones and hurried breath

we couldn't wait,

as buttons came undone

one by one

until,

there was nothing left

except

skin on skin

remember when

there was no one else

always you,

only you

From the context above I cannot help but draw the conclusion that hearts have been entwined, I believe that when intimate connection is experienced, is exercised that our souls are then connected in a way which is very deep. This connection is sought and many when finding it then do not maybe want to do the work required to keep the relationship strong. sometimes this kind of closeness is entered to soon and people may not be ready for true commitment. Our culture does not necessarily model it either. I truly understand the meaning behind your poem. We people are actually made to love and be loved.

You are correct that our society doesn't appear to place a high value on commitment... on sacred vows taken... rather, the thought process of many is that anything and everything is easily disposable and replaceable with a wave of the proverbial hand, if you will.

Sadly, this culture will suffer as a result, not to mention the countless hearts who do believe in commitment and the value of vows taken.

We are not made to bee squandered. Your response above is refreshing because you simply speak the truth. I know that many have to break away from their marital commitments or relationships because they are in physical danger or have an unfaithful partner. I am not judging anyone though.
