The Truth about "Happy"

The Truth about "Happy"

A Poem by lissa3333333

The happiest ones are

the most broken,

and this is sadly true.

What I thought I could hide

has eaten me through and through.

The pain swallows everything

and takes away all happiness

that used to live inside.

Always trying to hold back tears

and pretend everything's fine.

Try to make everyone believe

that nothing's the matter.

Empty and lonely feelings

surround every moment of the day.

Nothing makes you better

and no one knows the pain.

Words can't explain

what tortures you inside.

It's a monster that grows and feeds

on what destroys your life.

It takes what's wrong

and multiplies the pain.

Never ending sorrow.

Never ending pain.

The world keeps moving

while you stay and falter.

Not knowing where to turn,

and losing hope each moment.

Seek help and they don't believe

or find some "magic cure".

Why can't they see my pain,

just be there for support?

I just need a friend

to let me cry on their shoulder.

To tell me I'm strong.

To hug me tight.

Take me from the pain.

Show me a ray of light.

Take me to a place

that frees me from my life.

Most often, I believe, that the ones who hold the most despair are the ones who seem to be the happiest. For what reason though? I'm not sure. Perhaps it's because it's the happiness they're showing that they yearn for the most. Perhaps it's because they know such pain, that they can show the other side of its coin. Honestly, I think nobody knows how it works for every person and you're poem is just spot on about the truth of this two sides. This is really an inspiring piece about how looking in the soul is more important on believing what is shown. Great poem :)
