The Love Estimate.

The Love Estimate.

A Poem by Tinotenda Nyevedzanai

Poem - ATC

"
We underestimate the greats,
All of us have too high expectations
of the time wasters that let us down
then they bury their heads in the ground
But we are not supposed to laugh.
Find it impossible to hate them.
No we are meant to allow their erratic unfair behavior,
Stand asides as they run around worked up and failing
to catch their tails, run into walls acting crazy.
They are the ones we look up to, the ones that destroy us all.

and the greats get overlooked---they are the more reserved. the noisy ones get our attention, and then we feel too compelled to follow them.

and that is why we often fumble the ball when it comes to love...

expectations usually get us into trouble.

That is calling a spade a spade and it is certainly the truth. My respect is earned before it is given and it is never for sale.

Thank you Emily
intriguing writing Ally, much here to agree with, sometimes the greats are overlooked and those who shout get attention, its become the way today in this world, being loud and acting the fool makes celebrities when those deserving of honor and praise can be overlooked as being not interesting enough, your writing is clearly inspiring and worthy of much praise, bravo :)

Thank you for your kind words :)
Yes, sometimes we are wooed by shiny objects and the appearance of shiny projections, while we watch as the greats pass us by. At times we fall for the things we manifest ourselves - those expectations that run so high we can barely reach them - while other times we are duped by the crazy of others. In the end, however, they are "time wasters" and we waste valuable time on them. A thought-provoking piece Ally.

Thank you very much :)
Over all, this is a good write.. You have hit home with the first 2 lines.
"All of us have too high expectations" - Expectations (word changed :P) are the root cause of all sorrow. We expect to be loved back.. We expect people to be good to us just because we are good to them. That's wrong.. Life is not fair.. We have to accept this..

"They are the ones we look up to, the ones that destroy us all. " - No, they don't destroy us.. We implode, we destroy ourselves.. We can't let go.. We are only human.. :)

Thanks for reading Wordman I really appreciate it :)
Reminds me of school, really, how the loud kids and bullies get attention above the rest. Because of that, some kids act out TO get attention instead of working hard and doing a good job.
