Simon & Garfunkel "The Boxer"

Simon & Garfunkel "The Boxer"

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

lie, lie, lie!

"

Simon & Garfunkel “The Boxer”

Thin bone, thin as love could get on a soul.

feet, someone’s feet arcing up stairs to a lonely abode,

song in hand, song in head,

The Boxer plays its lie on living dead

in a silence that is your room,

pale walls massacre a thing called youth

lie, lie, lie, you sing

knowing only its you that sings.

It wasn't until I was older that I became aware how this duo's music resonated with me. I, too, enjoy Patterns. Once I was thinking of a war story and using three or four of their songs in the story.

Thanks Jacob!

Regards,
Al

this is so cool...actually reminds me of another S&G song..."Patterns"

"as i lie upon my bed in the early evening gloom/ a light from a street lamp paints a pattern on my wall/ like the pieces of a puzzle, or a child's uneven scrawl"---

intuitive write, leaving the reader in introspection...it's that thin bone, but strong mind thing, maybe.
