cornering around the story book of time

once upon a time no longer tells it

but like a brute with manners

i tiptoe into the lines of my verse!

Have to peel back the layers of this one - done that before and been oh so wrong! Is this about the love of/for a woman or a need to find the right words, Al! No need to answer, but seems you're having to hunt for benevolent inspiration! Interesting phrase, 'I tiptoe the lines of my verse' - suggests, gently does it.'

I like the pithy nature of this piece. How you managed to convey the limitations of a writer before hitting the publish button, the relative nature of self-censorship and the gnawing need to pause and reflect even if it were good.
