5. Why Must They Confuse Us?

BAU team conversation strictly. With the exception of Jos.

*In Quantico*

 

*The BAU team, save Reid, is sitting around a table. Tech-Help Garcia is sitting at the monitors, watching Jocelyn, Mayisha and Megan sitting in their individual rooms. They’re looking around, inspecting their surroundings*

 

Jocelyn: They abandoned me…

 

Hotchner: *watches her* They’re a strange bunch.

 

Morgan: You got that right. The Megan girl is delusional. She thinks she lives in a TV show. She also thinks WE’RE a TV show.

 

Garcia: I looked it up. There’s nothing on a show called “Criminal Minds”.

 

“JJ”: But she got all the facts right.

 

Garcia: I say we go in there and test her.

 

Hotchner: And what if she gets them all right?

 

Gideon: Then she knows her stuff.

 

JJ: But HOW does she know her stuff?

 

Agent Prentiss: Does she spy on us?

 

Gideon: Impossible. We can’t be spied on without us knowing it.

 

Morgan: What about the killer that spied on people through their computers?

 

Garcia: Their firewalls were WAY too easy to penetrate. I’m a hacker. I know my stuff.

 

Gideon: They’re no older than teenagers. Are they?

 

Hotchner: They refuse to tell us their ages. They could very well be as old as I am.

 

Gideon: Or younger than Reid. A lot younger.

 

Morgan: Hotch, for some reason, I get the vibe they’re not quite as old as you.

 

Hotchner: Are you calling me old?

 

Morgan: No, no. Just saying.

 

JJ: *sighs* Why must they confuse us?

 

Gideon: *quoting* It’s in their job description.

 

Hotchner: They say they travel around…?

 

JJ: Terrorists?

 

Morgan: Too young.

 

Gideon: Or too inexperienced.

 

Agent Prentiss: Activists?

 

Hotchner: Already tried that.

 

Agent Prentiss: And…?

 

Hotchner: Denied.

 

Agent Prentiss: People lie.

 

Hotchner: I don’t think they lied about this.

 

Agent Prentiss: Well, they’re lying about something.

 

Gideon: Where’s Reid?

 

Hotchner: I sent him to check out the hospitalized girl.

 

Gideon: Olivia Smith.

 

Morgan: And her mysterious boyfriend, “the Doctor”.

 

Gideon: Hey Garcia, can you do a search on “the Doctor”?

 

Garcia: Already on it~

 

Morgan: Great job, baby.

 

Garcia: I aim to please.

 

Hotchner: Jocelyn Sterling said that Megan Soul’s boyfriend was named “the Master”. Can you see what you can get on him as well?

 

Garcia: Aw, guys, you need to challenge me.

 

Morgan: I’ll see what I can come up with.

 

Garcia: You do that~

 

Gideon: What did we end up coming up with the four girls?

 

Garcia: Pretty much the only thing I found on Jocelyn Sterling, Megan Soul, and Mayisha Khan are the strange events thing I told you about earlier.

 

Hotchner: And Olivia Smith?

 

Garcia: I got one more thing on her. But I’m not sure if you guys are going to like it.

 

Agent Prentiss: What is it?

 

Garcia: Apparently she worked for the Torchwood Institute for a time.

 

Agent Prentiss: Torchwood? As in Disaster Torchwood?

 

Garcia: The very same.

 

Hotchner: She WORKED for them?

 

Garcia: Yup. It says that she turned up missing the day of the explosion. Presumed dead. Her Torchwood file is the only thing I can find on her. And even that’s blocked. Jesus, these guys mean business. Their firewall is pretty much made of ACTUAL fire.

 

Hotchner: Can you get through?

 

Garcia: I can sure as hell try. It’ll take time, though?

 

Morgan: How long?

 

Garcia: A couple hours at best.

 

Gideon: Do we have this kind of time?

 

Garcia: I sure hope so.

 

Hotchner: We can work around it. Should we try interrogating the girls again

 

Gideon: Why don’t we call Reid? Find out what he’s found out?

 

Hotchner: He’ll call us.

 

JJ: I can interview the Torchwood members still alive.

 

Garcia: Uh, according to my amazing hacker skills, there’s only one left alive.

 

Agent Prentiss: And that is…?

 

Garcia: Uh… Gwen Williams. She lives with her husband Rhys in Cardiff.

 

Hotchner: Great. Do we have jurisdiction?

 

Gideon: ’fraid not.

 

JJ: The crosses off the interview.

 

Hotchner: Change of plans. I’ll go to hospital and interrogate Olivia Smith. Prentiss, take Jocelyn Sterling. JJ, take Mayisha Khan. And Morgan, you did well with Megan last time. Why don’t you take her again?

 

Morgan: *groans* The delusional girl?

 

JJ: Not all delusional people are bad.

 

Gideon: JJ, I wouldn’t be talking. Mayisha is a bit insane herself.

 

Agent Prentiss: Are we on a first-name basis?

 

Gideon: Jocelyn will probably ask to call you just Prentiss. You can say yes if you like.

 

Agent Prentiss: I’m fine with it.

 

Hotchner: Great. Garcia, keep working on breaking that firewall.

 

Garcia: Garcia out.

 

Gideon: And I do what?

 

Hotchner: Go talk to the kidnapper.

 

Gideon: *sarcasm* Wonderful~

The Torchwood people WILL be coming in soon as well. We'll get around to seeing Jack and Gwen :D
