The Ultimatum

We spend so much of our lives believing

we must find happiness,

we must track it down,

grasp it,

and never

             let

                 go.

But what if happiness

is within us?

Perhaps it has been there all along,

and the task hasn't been to

find it,

but instead to embrace it,

to unbury it and allow it to surface.

Someone may help us reveal

what is already inside us,

or we may do so on our own.

No matter who lay claim to this discovery,

it is of the utmost importance that someone,

somewhere, uncovers this matter,

for true happiness resides in oneself,

waiting to be claimed.

It is..

      the ultimatum

                         the choice

 the discovery..

That makes the payoff of this adventure,

of this life-changing realization,

ever so fulfilling.
