What if the moon was really GOD'S eye

What if the moon was really GOD'S eye

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

For a friend Jamestown

"
What if the Moon was really GOD"s eye!

I don't mean to be disrespectful
I have the utmost respect
I have to ask these questions
As one would expect.
I've made a new discovery
The moon is the eyes of GOD
Yes I know what you are thinking
No! I am not on the grog.
When the moon is all but missing
Then GOD is not pleased
He leaves you with the elements
If you know what I mean.
When the moon is just a quarter
This is GOD peeking through
Keeping an eye on the darkness
He's even got his eyes on you!
When the moon is half way
GOD'S eye is just a wink
Watching all the evil
He doesn't miss a blink.
When the moon is at its fullest
GOD'S eyes are very pleased
He lights up the darkness
For everyone to see.
Watching down intently
On all the events today
He will pass judgement
So let us all pray.
I know what you are thinking
Jamestown "This is not true"
I know this is a silly thought
That came out from  the blue.

I like the concept of the moon and god. Many a good tale had been written about the strength and power of the moon. The moon can feel like a watchful God gazing upon us. Thank you for sharing the excellent and interesting poetry.

This is very creative! I loved the comparison of Gods eye and the different phases of the moon. Really enjoyed reading this. And you said I was a good writer, you're a pretty darn good writer yourself! :P

Hi Andrew. I Loved the tone you have taken with this poem. There is no irreverence intended, nor does it reflect in your writing. I felt I was there while you were talking to Jamestown, so an excellent setting of the scene!! Third stanza . . . The(n??) GOD is not pleased. Also, tell me what you would think of deleting 'from me' in the last stanza. I think it unnecessary, but what do you think. its your poem!!! alf

The poem has a fairy tale touch to it that I found very interesting, a child-like wonderment for the events of nature. I would love to read it to my 8-year old son. Much appreciated.

It's very conceivable that God is in the moon ever watching us..I like the way you compare God's eye movements with the phases of the moon..very creative Andrew..

I see you wrote this for Jamestown, and I am sure he appreciated it. God does not look on sin so He cannot be the one looking down. There is to much evil on earth. He must have angels that see all and tell Him all. Valentine

Very well written. One question though... where was God when I needed him? No intention to hurt anyone... just curious...

Thanks:) I'll try that.
I love the creativity in this piece and the fact that is God is present everywhere
at all times and if he he wants to use the moon as his eye, well he surely can
it's his, this is well written and executed, going to favorites
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
