Pages of time!

Pages of time!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

To be or not to be
was washed up in emotions
displayed across the sands of time
spoken on the waves
withdrawn on the tides
drowning in verse
another tale sails by
where words lost in verse
meet at the horizon
books lie in wait
opened by the wind in passing
to be read like
I was read.

'To be or not to be', yes we are so often what we are, by what others read of us.( both metaphorically and literally) I love the way you use natural word pictures...'sands of time', 'tides,' meeting 'at the horizon' and 'the wind in passing'. We are indeed little worlds. And others, who read us, make books of us, 'To be read, like I was read'. You have written a wonderful poem of 13 lines (was 13 intentional?). I hope you have many more Pages of time. I look forward to reading more of you!

"to be read like
I was read."

If I take it as I'm usually read or have been, then probably that 'book' would be misunderstood lol
'washed up in emotions' - I like that. Also the imagery in this one. This has a heavy feeling about it. ..

dear Andrew... to be read like a book as ships pass in the night ... as the wind turns the pages
over the horizon of dreams.... truly a poetic voyage of red sails in the sunset.... As ever, Pat
