It’s not what’s the time but watch time.

It’s not what’s the time but watch time.

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

Another timely piece !

"
Marriage to time
was more a necessity
than a convenience.

But time was fickle,
time was strict,
time snuffed out
your candle stick.

There were no guarantees
flirting with time,
courting time,
or borrowing time.

What time gives,
time taketh away,
for time knew
that’s all you’ll have,
or will you?

Marriage to time
was a divorce
in the making
for time moved on.

In the beginning
one thinks one has
all the time in the world,
but in the end
no one really leaves time,
time leaves you.

We are all born in a world
of Tick F""ing Tock.

This is a great spoof on those who obsess over TIME! I've always wanted to write a poem based on the song by band Chicago (old days): "Does anybody really know what time it is?" . . . And your message here contains many of the observations I might've made in such a poem. But you've done such a great job working in all the "time"less phrases, I'll go on to the next item on my "to-write" list! *wink! wink!* By the way, I've never worn a watch (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thanks margie and i am obsessed with writing time poems lol
dear Andrew... time is of essence when hearts entwine... There is a time for every season...
Hummingbirds sip nectar and sometimes return to the same garden each year. We give way to tears on parchment with poems and rhymes to
share with old time friends. truly, Pat

thank you pat for your words
brilliantly profound, i enjoyed
the use of how you married
the bit of the fanciful imagery
with stark realism— in amazing diction without all extensive details.

your pen always speaks volumes in few words, that captivates readers, Andrew.
excellent read ~ x
