There was movement in the shadow of self.

There was movement in the shadow of self.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Was there a dark side to a shadow?
What lies within?
Maybe shades of light on dark?
Is there such thing as a bad or good shadow?

What pray tell is better?
The light of man himself or
the shadow of a man
who follows?

In the movement of shadows
came the day
a shadow stood still.
T’was the day he lost his shadow.

Does anyone talk about their shadow?

As I read your questioning message, it feels like the narrator is really talking about "shadows" in the physical sense, yet it seems so clear that the real meaning is about one's shadow self. This trick of writing something that seems to be one thing, but is really another . . . your style & message are reflecting each other! *smile* Fondly, Margie
