"you always tend to hurt the ones you love"

"you always tend to hurt the ones you love"

A Poem by Amanda Zaborowski

“You always tend to hurt the ones you love”

as if it makes it okay to;

say the words and things that you know they hate,

scream and cry and fight and argue,

do something irrational in the heat of the moment,

or slap and physically hurt that person.

you do not you cannot hurt the ones you love,

It’s just that simple.

you don’t leave when they’re at their most vulnerable times,

when they need you.

you do not physically harm or put your hands on someone

that you claim to love.

you cannot write, speak, or type

words or phrases that will emotionally break them apart.

you never hurt someone that you love.

you do not break the one you love.

and if you do,

and you feel no remorse at all simply because

“You always tend to hurt the ones you love”

then quite frankly,

You never loved them to begin with…
