Soul Separation license

This is for Delmar, whose kindness is misunderstood by many. He only wants to help make us all better. Be well my friend.

He stood there
shallow greys
of not dark
surrounded
waiting
to take it --

her
soul
began to
tear away
from her
she felt it
scream
silently
as she
held on
with all
her might --
 
her fate was
sealed,
or so it
seemed ...

but along with
all the other things
he forgot to do,
the mortgage, credit
and the library card
he didn't renew,
his soul separator's license
was way past due.

Okay I really enjoyed reading this one. That last stanza was awesome. And I loved the near title drop. Those always get me. I can't really say why, but they do.
