BUG

BUG

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

this paper thing has been good for me ...

"
A harmless bug crawled upon the shiny floor,
having avoided any and all hazards
she had reached the ripe old age of day 104 -
I almost didn't notice; nearly swept her out the door,
when I heard or sensed like "Horton" and the "Who"
she let out a coo sounded so sweet ...

"What is it about you humans", said she,
"You always have enough to eat, but still you want more.
Family is all around, but you shove them out the door.
You'd rather hate than cooperate, and for reasons I
can't contemplate, you'd sooner start a war than
 negotiate.
We bugs are simple and have no choice,
We fight for every scrap and purchase
 because we have no choice.
The gifts you've been bestowed you squander,
If I had such blessings I wouldn't wander
 In anger and strife,
I'd thank God for all my life".

Her insect logic made me pause,
she could see on my face
she had made her case
against my race.

But I was in a hurry,
I was in a rush,
I had but a few more
minutes to clean
before catching the bus.

So I squashed her,
and shook out the rug.
For I am a HUMAN,
and she was just a BUG.
