A spring time song for Jacob

A spring time song for Jacob

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

There are writers I really admire on this site -- this is my pitiful attempt at writing something that reminds me of Jacob --

"
A forlorn coffee can
stands sentinel atop
an ugly gray snow bank
once pristine and white,
now lumpy gravel and ice,

the rain kisses it lightly
coercing it to join the
rivers of mud flowing
down the hill,

revealing pot holes
and yesterday's news
encrusted with winter's
grime --

the birds, know
more than we do,
and gather to eat the
grubs of spring.

love this...
can't wait til his heart
has a spring again.

so the spring is more beautiful!

A hopeful springtime poem, with the bite of reality for good measure. You have captured the essence of Jacob's style, particularly in the third stanza. Well crafted, KL, and a great nod to a fellow poet.

I like it. It does resemble Jacob's work. It is very descriptive and slightly anthropomorphic. A simple snapshot of nature's work. very nice. :)
