Reaped

Reaped

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

what sin would you commit to save yourself?

"
Reap what you sow
or possibly
what you did not.

Only I have to live
with what I
have done.

Revenge taken
on a sliding scale
of slippery whens.

I do not regret
I will not forget

In a land of compromises
this sin
was the right one.

Saving the end of me,
it was the one
to set me free.

Sometimes compromises need to be made to save ourselves from our situation.
Great write...there is a question the reader must answer if I am not mistaken. If I am mistaken then you can tell me to shut the "F" up ;)

You are most welcome KL, I know you wouldn't :)
I agree with Rob. This is an interesting piece, very introspective. We all have the dark within us, though some nurture it more than others. Since we're on the topic of sins, I do believe there's only one judgement on our actions that truly matters, other than our own.

As to what sin would I commit to save myself? Given that humans are selfish creatures and the survival instinct is strong in us, I think if push truly came to shove, I would do whatever I had to. I would have to truly believe I was in danger though. This is of course speaking only in a physical sense.

I feel this poem speaks more to the state of the psych and emotional survival. Of course, one could argue there is no difference.

Well written.

KLG, so called sins committed in self defense or self preservation are not truly sins. Murder is sanctioned on the battlefield, and (I believe) in abusive personal situations of self defense. So, ease your conscience, my friend, and fret not. He who causes abuse gets what he deserves. We don't have to play the victim.

Thank you, I am honoured you feel that way. It is a privilege to know people like you.
Interesting write and question. If necessary MURDER would be the ultimate sin to commit if I had to save my own a*s. Well enjoyed this, off to a sin fest. Yup, willful sinner here.....
