infidelity of the most expensive sort

Our wedding was
a picture perfect lie --
poetry hung
from the rafters;

There were
hand-written sentiments
on every table ...

I wore red,
and the snow was white.

You looked in my eyes and said vows,
veiling your betrayal and deceit.

By the time I saw,
I had two babes in arms.

Stuck in quick sand,
I couldn't run fast enough.

And now you have the nerve,
to accuse, to judge,
to stand on a soap box
and preach ...

The depth of your treachery
is insurmountable;
your nerve, incredible.

It wasn't abuse, you say,
because you didn't pound me
to a bloody pulp.

Yet the wounds you left are deep,
the damage,
is evidenced in papers and receipts.

My wallet was the b***h
you did behind my back,
again and again,
and then did her some more.

And the cost,
was worse to me,
than a w***e.

I know the place from where this came and it only made the effect that much stronger... I can relate on several levels.. you can feel the betrayal, the pain, the frustration, the anger, the disbelief... raw, honest, affecting, and freaking powerful.....

Yes, this is a very angry poem. Both the story, and the fact that many people don't see financial infidelity as infidelity. I would have preferred he take up women. It would have been a lot cheaper for me.:)
