Night fishing.

Night fishing.

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

I am sorry. I drove by a man who was night fishing. This is the filth that oozed out of my head. I don't think it should be labelled mature as it pertains to the young.

"
He likes to
night fish,
blinding them
with his dazzling
array of lures.

The fly he leaves open
for them to see --
He trolls quietly,
never knowing who might
take a bite --

Unlike a responsible fisherman,
he throws the old ones back,
and only keeps them
if they are young,
it doesn't matter
if they can't breed.

He only wants
to deposit his seed.
he mounts them,
and keeps them
like trophies.

Destined to become
another face on another
faded poster,
a reason for parents to cry
and to hold their children too tight --

He likes to fish
at night.

Distasteful as a subject, quite brilliant as both a poem and a warning.

It should be posted on every front page of every national newspaper.

Beccy.

Thanks. Not sure why my mind went there, but it did.
Hopefully it was just some poor lonely guy fishing, and not some creepy pedo guy, but I get your point. I just saw a post last night on Facebook, one of these creeps was released from prison and the police saw fit to warn people in the area he moved to that he was there, and had restrictions on what he could do, like not hang out around schools, parks etc. and to call police if seen in those places.
Well written poem, I like how you switched it up.

Thanks for popping back in. I don't know why I took it there, I just did.
This is familiar territory I can think back to some of my former work mates this would have been part of their daily talk. Clever the bit about depositing the seeds sad as well as it is factual. Yeah this type of attitude toward relationships is damaging when the lies and the stories get mixed up and finnaly the lier get caught in his own web . Mate of mine came back from a holdiay to be received by three girfriends as his lies had run out of luck.

Never liked fishing me...

Thankyou

Yeah not sure why that triggered this. I literally jumped to that vision
I was surprised by the ending. Led the poem with a nightly fishing trip to a bad man. A interesting poem my dear friend. Also a good song. I liked her voice.

You are welcome.
Wow you turned night fishing into paedophilia in a few well chosen lines 'M'. flows well and has imagination and a social purpose!

Just came to me when I saw him. Don't really know why.
Ouch! KLG, you didn't hold your punches, did you? Isn't night fishing legal? If it's legal, isn't it ok? I don't know. Down here in the back country, night shining for deer is illegal. We did it for fun one summer when I was in high school with a group of friends, and it was a hoot, but we didn't shoot anything. We weren't hunting...just watching and enjoying. Very good poem, though! It makes you think. If someone is going to fish illegally and not throw back the ones that are too small, what else are they doing by the light of a full moon?
