Lying in tepid water

Lying in tepid water

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

ongoing thoughts

"
Rifling through my pockets
picked clean
continued denials
in the face of
tears and screams.

bank accounts and credit cards
padding the grocery list
medical expenses that did not exist
theft and pawn,
accounts overdrawn.

bathing in tepid water
pretending

you were everything
you said you were.

and now my heart's
a shrivelled prune,

accustomed to soaking
in your lies.

Honest and direct words.

I enjoyed the poem. The tone left the reader with the vision of a dying prune. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you. I wish no one understood this crap. Xo
Oh… we forget how easy it is to drown in the minutiae of daily life, dragged under by the betrayal of those who should have buoyed us… This is a startling and pointed word picture of just that struggle.

Ugh! This takes me to difficult places, deceit and experiences having gone sour, and then realising that you have grown accustomed to find the lies out. That is very disheartening. Also a wake up call becuase it can happen without noticing.

Thank you

Yes, you are right, it is quiet, insipid, and very soul destroying.
We can either allow the past to bathe us in sadness or shower us with knowledge to take us into the future better prepared. Dry off KL, get dressed and head out the door with a smile. Your happiness is waiting. Very cool piece.

Yes you are right of course. Sometimes certain things trigger things. I take lies very personally.
It's the ultimate betrayal of trust. Marriage should be a partnership that works to build a solid foundation and loving, respectful home. Look to the future now, proceed with caution, but don't close the door to love.

Thank you. It is a hard thing. A few steps toward freedom, but always that eye to the past.

An eye to the past is a good thing sometimes.
Helps you appreciate how far you've come. :)

kind of thing that could make it hard to ever trust anyone again, stranger still is I enjoyed reading this, flowed well and there is interest and things to learn from tragedies like this that are really very common, things seem more profound than horrible when brought to light in an artistic fashion....and I haven't heard this song in years...I probably would have went with The Standelles myself but was fun listening to this.

Thank you for your insight. I had my reasons for the song. Personal memories is all.
