I was listening to the radio the other day. Homolka found once again --
and the interviewer who wouldn't out her because of her kids --
my heart goes out to those kids. And to the families of her victims,
whose kids will never have kids because of her and her
first husband Paul Barnardo

I am speechless with this. It is so powerful how you have done this. Your poem is amazing in and of itself, but when I watched the video...I just don't even know how to express the sick gut it gives me. Combined - your words and the video - they speak so loudly. What is wrong with people! What causes such sick, twisted, casual cruelty?!!! Just amazing, tragic, sick and so very, very twisted.

I am a bit of a serial killer, crime buff, and I have read nearly every article and book on this particular couple. And while he, of course, is in jail where he belongs, she used her femininity and looks to trick the prosecution in to a deal, before they saw the tapes of her actively participating in the crimes -- as a (formerly) abused woman I take particular offense at her claiming that is why she did it, when all the evidence points to the contrary.

Mercy serves those who are condemned. Forgiveness serves the forgiver. One who does not want mercy does not need it and no one outside yourself every requires your forgiveness. If one pleads for it, what he needs is his own. Resentments however are a knife turned inward, hilt seemingly in the hands of a ghost (memory).

I applaud your rational thought with regard to religion and philosophy. I am not so far in the continuum when it comes to certain things.

If it helps I do not believe in absolutes. We live in an imperfect world and it will always will be that way so we may continue to evolve. The best we can do is always seek for balance. You site a very well-known atrocity. But believe or not, it occurred because balance was very skewed with these two individuals probably since birth. Of course ... I think they need to be shut away from society but I would not let their imbalance ... that is obviously a euphemism ... geez, right ... muddy up my balance. It is highly unlikely that either will ever allow themselves to experience remorse ... for what they did that would shatter completely their identity. The ego has a protective function as well. Could you imagine having to confront something so horrendous about oneself? Best to leave them alone and out of the media eye. I think. On a side note ... I do not mean to offer any disrespect to you, KL:) Please accept my apology if I have offended.

It really is intended for any heinous action, but I thought of it when listening to this vile woman on the radio, describe her past mistakes as if they were little oopsies from your first marriage. And all the bs about her being battered? Lies, disproven after she already made a deal with the Crown.

A husband and wife raping murdering team. She testified against him, served 4 years, and is out, living her life, with two kids and a husband. When you hear her in an interview she says things like "why can't people forget the past?" Like murdering and raping teenage girls, one of whom was your own sister, is a parking violation. That aside, it could be applied to any unforgivable crime.

I believe we are of a similar age -- I was at York U when we were all on guard for the Scarborough rapist. We all had escorts back to the dorm. I just am so incensed by her out there, married, with kids, trying to pretend she didn't do the things she did.
