Friends aren't meat.

Friends aren't meat.

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a collab with Jon Roggie and Papaya http://www.writerscafe.org/jtrogue http://www.writerscafe.org/AnaPapaya

"

"A tortoise doesn't have any hair",

Said the cat with a delicate purr,

"And a papaya, well, she's sweet,

but she ain't no pear,"

Tortoise thinks, and after a long pause,

"Little kitten can't get past the shell.

Papaya, not to be ignored,

but she has become a friend.

So, I will settle for strawberries."

Papaya spun, and danced with glee

Until she fell out of her Papaya tree

Kitty ran to her rescue (she's a hero)

Poor tortoise knows, he's much too slow.

Aw, KL!
Now, this is cute and sweet as can be … your heart is hanging out here, and how beautiful it is.
Wonderful imagery, delightful analogies, happy emotion, spot-on grammar, and flow all come together to make this a true highlight of beguiling homage to friendship.
I almost see Papaya jumping up and down in her seat with joy after reading this.

You are a very special lady, KL, and both you and Papaya are fortunate, indeed, to be such good friends!
Here's a big hug to you both … MMM-HMM! ⁓ Richard

I love it so much I'd give you 1000 points for this one, if ! could! ; )

Thank you for wanting to lighten people's moods including mine by sharing this piece, it made me smile, there's something so purely sweet and innocent about it, who could resist at least a tiny itch of one's lips?

You're welcome too :)
you have got my interest ... very fine collab no doubt ...i enjoy the innocence but it seems a deeper meaning is in there too .. its all about friendships ..hard shells and soft ..sweet teeth or not .. timing is there or it isn't ...

Not so silly. We all need that touch of levity in our lives or we'd go nuts. Explains a lot of people I guess.

Read.. smiled.. read.. nodded.. read again and wished i could start afresh! There's an innocence in the words yet.. there's more than just words.. there are observations, stanza by stanza which means.. come back again and see what you can find. I will. Delightful!

Just noticed that this is a collab with two other writers.. clever stuff, you three!

Anytime you can give a smile, how can you complain?
This reminds me of the spirit in which I wrote about my two very diverse doggies recently. This is a very imaginative way to celebrate our differences & embrace the sometimes-awkward dance of being friends. I guess we have to learn to try new foods, huh? *smile* Thanks for sharing this upbeat & playful allegory!
