tongue tied too

tongue tied too

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a collection of romantic notions

"

 then I met you

I am good with words

till my tongue trips over you

and all the things I intended to say

somehow don't make it all the way

to where I want them to.

I am good with words,

till I look into your blue,

lost and at home in your sea --

forever is an instant for me,

and I don't know what to do.

I was good with words,

then I met you.

                                                      One toe in

I had one toe in the water, then,

when you told me I am not the one,

                                              you weren't in love,

                                               it was just for fun...

I was only knee deep, then,

when you said you wanted company,

                                                   since I was there,

it may as well have been me...

                                             But now I'm treading water,

feeling like the toe I stubbed

on the words you said so long ago,

will pull me in to the under tow.

Sunday sometime something

We were a little more than nothing,

a Sunday sometime something,

for more than a little while.

I can't say I fell quickly,

or even that I fell at all...

My love for you came inch by inch,

a shim wedged in the door

of my locked down heart.

It wasn't the way I thought

such things ever happen.

But sometimes to make it fit,

you gotta take out a hammer,

and throw the instruction manual away.

Cotton candy goodbyes

Pink and lavender clouds

plant cotton candy kisses firmly

against the edges of evening azure sky.

The moon waits patiently

for the sun's lingering adieu ...

Another day done

and I can't wait

to lie next to you once more

and feel another day break

nestled in your sighs.

Each day is sweeter

than the one before

when you're always waiting

for the hello that follows

goodbye

It's been a long time since I've stumbled across one of your collections & this is a great one! I love every poem in its own way, not being distracted by however these poems might "go together", instead I'm more entranced by the writing & wordplay. Each one has a different flair of tricks like alliteration or rhyme & rhythm. It just feels like a good flow of ideas & sounds (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is poetry dear Lyn and you are welcome my friend.
I think the first piece will resonate with most on here/ writers, as the difference between pen and real life live are laid bare. Although my problem is usually loose tongued, saying too much, sometimes I get tongue tied too, leaving me wondering who is really in charge of our destiny. Certainly not the mouth in my case.
A beautiful and fragile collection of uniquely you, that we can all relate to in some way.

the pencil drawing up top is v good..
after the first divorce, i ended up for some time having only a toe in the water, even when i was knee deep...protecting myself from the dampness of love.
i relate to these and like them very much.
