Lilith

Lilith

A Poem by anaisbelieve

silence shifts through the air

oh, that i might return.

that thought leaves me still

until anger frees me from guilt

and yearning

Adam had named all the animals

the least i asked for was to name myself

Subserveant.

i would not be.

Creation's one mishap was my free will

considering my only will should have been

being Adam's own play-thing

i have left the garden

and i am feeling freer than the leaves

i am feeling free

my voice would not abandon me but

i was content listening to the silence sift

through the air

my daughter was coming

through the gates of Eden dejected and blamed

the flames burned brighter in my hair.
