A Father's Love

A Father's Love

A Poem by Victoria Scott

You know how in spring the roses begin growing,

And when snow melts the creeks they start flowing,

And the world comes alive with everything in it.

Like a candle in the darkness is suddenly lit.

How the leaves revolve, like the earth around the sun;

With seasons like years have just begun,

They steadily go, seeing no end

No mark in the road,

No sudden end.

Like snow in the winter;

Like leaves in the fall,

Like flowers in spring,

Like summer’s last call.

That’s how I see your love to remember

It isn’t like the ashes or the coal or the ember.

It burns like a flame; steadily growing;

How I see your eyes, the full knowledge of knowing.
