FOR YEARS I'VE WALKED BESIDE YOU
TOOK EVERYTHING YOU SAID TO HEART
RIGHT UP TO THE DAY I WAS LOCKED AWAY
BEHIND THE BARS THAT PUT US APART

I TRUSTED YOU WITH EVERYTHING
BUT I KNEW THAT YOU WOULD'NT COME THRU
I SAT ALONE HERE IN THE DARK
AS YOU PUT AN END TO ME AND YOU

FOR WAY TO LONG I GAVE YOU LEAD
TO DESTROY EVERYTHING THAT I WAS
TO LIE AND CHEAT AND STEAL MY LIFE
YOUR ONLY REASON WAS JUST BECAUSE

WELL THESE BARS THAT HOLD ME HERE
HAVE RELEASED YOUR HOLD ON ME
AND THE DARK THAT I HAVE SAT IN
WELL IT HAS FINALLY MADE ME SEE

YOU WILL NEVER AGAIN BE THE PERSON
THAT I THOUGHT THAT I HAD FOUND
YOU HAVE LOST THE PRIVILEGE YOU ONCE HAD
OF KICKING ME WHILE I WAS DOWN

IN THIS STAGE OF MY LIFE YOU ARE AN ACTOR
PLEASE COME FORWARD AND TAKE A BOW
YOU MAY THINK YOU HAVE ME FOREVER
BUT I AM NOT YOUR PRISONER NOW!

I love the flow. I can feel the frustration and I can relate. Calling them an actor was a very nice touch, it added to the mood really well.

I always write for whatever the situation. This was not my situation but someone else. I was trying to put it in perspective for them.
