Miss Perfect

Miss Perfect

A Chapter by R E Tree

I don't want to be your friend

You can forget about the love,

You want me to send,

I'm not letting you,

Walk all over me,

You say one thing isn't right,

You talk trash

You have a list of things that’s not right,

I won't let you make changes

Just so you can use me in the end

Make me feel I have no self-worth,

When you see me,

Whether you like it or not

You decide to be my friend,

No trash talk,

I won't let your thoughts chase me,

So I will be afraid,

Because I don't want to change,

I can tell, what’s on your list:

I don't want to dress,

To how you want me to,

I won't change my hair

To how you like it

I won't act,

To how you want me to,

This isn't fair

It gives my heart so much pain

I can't be how you want me to be

I don't want to be your MISS PERFECT

If I was, I wouldn't be writing this

Instead I would be dead

So think again,

Control freak,

Pick on someone else, not me

Amazing poem, very good job of it. We have a friend who always talk trash and this poem is very good.

I was caught by the double meaning lurking in the title. If you read 'miss' as a verb then it gives another level of meaning, as we all miss being perfect for all kinds of reasons. So to expect someone to be perfect is a bad starting position and almost certainly guarantees disappointment. So here, to individuality with all its fascinating flaws.

Definitely riddled with symbolic interpretation of control and its relation to perfection. almost sounds though as if the poem could be literally speaking back to its author, in an attempt to bring a change in personality since they dont like themselves. Either way it is a wonderful allegory to the roles of perfection and disdain.

A very strong standing up for yourself and your self worth. No one should control someone else like that but it happens so often, time and again. We all should be free to be ourselves and loved and accepted for who we are.

Conforming is a personality's doom. My what boring little robots we would be if we all changed to please another

Individuality is the key to humanity. It is the people that do not have there own that try to control and change others. I really liked you way of writing. It is in your face emotion, true grit. Good job.

Very personal. Very powerful. You are right, you can't be someone different for someone else. I like your poetry. One small thing, it may not be your style, but I'd love to see some more metaphor in this piece such as, I can't be your Barbie Doll or I won't be wrapped up like a present under a tree for you to open Christmas day. That would make it even better. But I like it as is.
