#morningcoffee

A Poem by Anja Berestetska
"

Some thoughs that came to my mind while drinking my black coffee early in the morning

"

Bitter taste on my lips

Of morning coffee

To wake me up

To remind to wake up

To wish the night away:

Hi, Brand New Day!

Sweet and innocent

Awaiting ahead.

I’m thinking of Brazil,

Sunrise in Copacabana

Texture of pao de queijo,

Melting acai,

Sinking in sweet daydream,

As I am walking

Narrow streets

Of a city X,

Red-brick houses, juicy trees,

yelling seagulls, chill breeze.

Taking deep breath

And a big gulp

Before plunging into

Another grey day

One more on a chain

To start over

again & again.

& again.

Take your chance, they say!

In a hurry I burn my lips

Getting lost amid those houses,

Fancy boulevards,

Skyscrapers and childhood dreams

Hot coffee cup to go

Is therefore

a connecting link

between the soul and reality

Black & bitter

Hot & steaming

Swirling, ready for new begin

Maybe today,

Maybe tomorrow

Even never,

For God’s sake!

One more chance

To start over

To be open

again & again

& again.
