If only I had a Time Machine

If only I had a Time Machine

A Poem by Anna

I hold your hand now, like you held mine,

and choke back on the facts of time.

your lost to me, behind a thickened haze.

What room inside your mind,

have you been buried in?

What pieces of you remain?

It matters not now I know...

If only I had a time machine,

To do it all again.

But nothing now will change this.

Taken before your time.

You no longer remember...

You know longer know...

Can you tell I am here?

I wish you could just say hello.

I choke again on the facts of time.

Cruel, what has been taken, and what is left.

I can not imagine what chaos resides within your mind.

I only know the pain inside my heart,

as I hold your hand, like you held mine.

Although I sit here next to you,

I miss you,

and I choke back again on the facts of time.

Your lost to me behind that clouded stare.

If only I had a time machine,

So I could say again to you,

How much we love you, Mom.

But nothing can be done.

You are here, but gone.

It's so heartbreaking to be right next to someone and feel like they are gone. Sadly, this disease has taken the best of some people and it hurts to know that sometimes, it cannot be treated. I haven't personally known anyone who has experienced this, but I do understand how severe the effects can be and to those around them. They recognize you, then you're just stranger. There's so much depth and truth you share here.
