Falling (orange sneakers)

Falling (orange sneakers)

A Poem by Elle Thompson
"

The first thing I've written in a while

"

I’m keeping a dark secret,

Orange Sneakers

Are you running from something too?

Do I look as terrified as I am?

I’ve got a deep dark secret

Under my skin

Under this skin

What’s life without a secret?

Did you fall from the sky?

I bet this looks different down on the ground.

My secret has a heartbeat

but it’s all mixed up in this song they always play

right about now

I hope you’re not running away too,

Orange Sneakers

but if you are I guess I understand.

As for me

I’m gonna miss the sky

Right about now

I lose track of the dots slicing up the center of the road

I hope you’ve got some place to go tonight,

Orange Sneakers

and if you don’t

I guess that’s okay

It’ll be our secret.

Author's Note

Elle Thompson
so if you've been following my work (ha!) you know that I write very direct, blunt poetry sometimes, and sometimes i write really dreamy, nonsensical, abstruse poetry. this is the latter, obviously
not really sure what to say about it, though
I wrote it a week ago or so
I was in such a good mood tonight I felt like sharing

I see no problem with relating your story to a pair of sneakers. After all the sneakers can keep a secret. Nice to have someone (or something) to trust with a secret. ( : O )
