My Darling Amy

My Darling Amy

A Poem by mamabear

Amy deserves the best in life, this is the start

For healthy lungs and healthy heart

With an intake of breath begins the cry

I’ve run out of time, oh my!

Everything must be done in advance

Can you leave anything to chance?

It may be bottle and not breast

But who said bottle is not best?

We have created new life

That’s Richard and me, his wife

It’s up to us to do what we do

If not us then who?

I’ve changed my name

It’s not a shame

I’m no longer me

I’m Amy’s Mummy!

Will life ever again be the same?

If it is it’s a shame

For can’t you see?

I really love my Amy!

I wrote this 15 years ago when i was suffering from lack of sleep and feeds every few hours! Even through Amy is now a teenager I still love her more than anything. Thank you Amy for enriching my life and being such a good friend as well as a beautiful daughter.
