A Better Tomorrow

This poem is dedicated to all those who suffered in the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Our hearts cry for you, India cries for you!

 Darkness had enveloped the world

Hiding everything under its blanket

Powers of evil in full force

Scheming a plan to disrupt the peace all around

As the sun came dawning upon us

The terror of the last night unfolded

A war seemed to be raging on

But between whom?  It was Man against Man

There was destruction all around

Sounds of gunfire and grenades echoing throughout

The whole of India glued to their T.V. sets

Watching as lives were lost, pain was felt and a hundred emotions were left unsaid

Mumbai, our famous Mumbai

Was being attacked from all sides

The battle continued, day and night

Blood being shed like useless water

Who knew what was coming next

Who knew when all this was going to come to an end

But this war, it raged on, on for three days,

And when all was calm again,

The price that they had to pay for it

Was evident from their faces

We might never be able to repay back

The mothers who lost their children

The relatives who lost their loved ones

The soldiers, their sleepless and tiring nights

The hostages, their feeling security about their life

But what we can do, is join hands

Stand up in unison again such terrorism

Lend a helping hand to people who need it

Remember the deceased in our prayers

And hope and pray, for a better tomorrow.
