as I looked over the edge

over the edge

I would just look

and look

to the horizon in the distance

to the tops of the town

to the steep wall right ahead

or to the lake behind in the mountains

the breeze blowing my thoughts

stare out and just think

and think

or stare and not listen

to the thoughts in my head

just stare to the distance

not thinking instead
