Unspoken Distance

Unspoken Distance

A Poem by Chirag Kumar
"

I wrote this poem to my cousin sister whose family wasn't in talking terms with mine. The differences had an impact on our relationship too.

"

Unspoken Distance

I am eager to meet you
and have you in my arms, dear.
But there is an unspoken distance born between us,
a ruthless border drawn between our lives,
by our egos.
Each one of us
wishes to have the upper hand in this clash,
but, somehow we fail to realize,
that both shall lose,
in this battle of pride.
Somehow we fail to look
beyond the implications
of our miniscule skirmishes,
in the long journey of survival. Life would be much easier, if one of us crosses those lines, and conquers the other one via a hearty dialogue. But that doesn't seem to be a possibility anymore, for this unspoken distance has diminished our conscience, leaving a vacuum to be filled by our pride. I know, that even you are trying to get in touch with me, but, just like me, you're embroiled
in the thick sludge of pessimism,
which pushes you down and trapped within it forever.
So,the best way out,
is to crawl ahead through this sludge,
no matter how much dirt of pain sticks to us,
and reach to a common land,
where we can open up ourselves,
and spit out all the negativity
which was eating us up.
I wish that day comes at the earliest.

Take care dear.

Your loving brother,

I would like to know the relationship, Chirag?
Is this some kind of caste issue going on here?
You have so many ways in which you treat your family members and your women, I do not know what questions to ask?

A poem of conflict and searching a truce, a happy reunion

Good write but the note says to cousin and in the end it says from your loving brother. Now I take it that brother is used in turns of being a brother of the human species. Either way it is good you reached out. Too often our relationships are ruined by internal strife and old family issue.

A compassionate poem.
It grew out of the screen and touched.
Many instances are very relatable to people in general.
May you get to see your sister soon.
A beautiful piece.
Super like.

The right man
Allows no fear to take away his lover
He will cross every line
break every wall
With his love
If it is genuine
And she will relinquish control
Because she will learn of how brave he can be .........
Against that all walls fall
