ArdhanaarIshvara

ArdhanaarIshvara

A Poem by Chirag Kumar

ArdhanaarIshvara

To Her who's the Goddess of the Himalayas,
to Him who's the Lord of the Entire Samsara*,

to Her whose body radiates as gold, smeared with saffron,
to Him whose body shines as karpura*, smeared with ashes,

to Her with a fitting head dress, whose hair is adorned with divine flowers,
to Him with matted Jata*, whose hair is adorned with the Holy Ganga*,

to Her whose even numbered eyes twinkle like stars,
to Him whose odd numbered  eyes bloom like a hermit,

to Her embellished with ear rings and divine garlands,
to Him who wears garlands of skulls and snakes,

to Her who creates love and compassion with her blessings,
to Him who destroys kama* with His Third Eye ,

to Her whose feet are engulfed by jeweled anklets,
to Him whose feet are decorated with snake clad garlands,

to Her who dances in the prayers of devotees,
to Him who breaks into Tandav* to destroy evil,

to Her who dons an alluring ambient saree,
to Him who wanders wearing animal skin,

to Her who walks beside the Lord of the Lords,
to Him who is in union with Shakti*,

I pay my humbling obeisances.
