Tate with Mitchel his cousin 5yrs old

Upon delivery of Tate

I decided to cast some rules

Become the master of his fate

and use my knowledge just like tools

This moment came for me that is

on the morning my son was born

When my thoughts turned from mine to his

whereby a better man was sworn

The first rule cast for us back then

to never publicly disgrace

I think important to all men

of every color and race

 ______________________________

The second was to listen well

to whatever he has to say

Only then would I think to tell

how the situation might weigh

 ______________________________

The third and final thought I had

to make him learn to love himself

Not to assume that he is bad

for what I'm guilty of myself

A true honest piece, you will be at a time when all will go so naturally.... I loved it, because we propagate resulting in the evolution of every father, there is and shall be a new father, sometimes the opposite and there are difficulties, other times, there is true luck, and we should take all out of that. But be aware of the good and beautiful things in life, always, this write is not to late, it's a eye-opener... The message is so clear, from which part of the world we were born, be good to them. They are our future.

Your poem and your notes both ring with the truth of future, hope, life and legacy.

So simply observed, so simply stated, rewarding to practice. And yet, all too often things go awry. It's in those time we have to see clearer, be stronger, pray for patience and look toward the generosity of future to help us.

Imprinting and parental identification starts as young a 2 years old. Personality, ethics, morality.... 2 years old. At four they are already practicing their version of what they imprinted... if you haven't organized your own life, perspectives, choices by then... it becomes an uphill battle.

I find nothing in your words to disagree with Tate. I'm glad there are still parents like you left in this society.

I was always vigilant to tates needs And it has paid me back in treasure as he has stood by me through all the slings of my life. SO I wrote the poem My immortal soul of his future and what i dreamed for him from near the day he was born. He has become what i always hoped a loving soul and at 17 will soon be on his own so to speak

It is unfortunate that some men and women never make this connection upon the birth of their child. And continue on neither realizing or caring the damage their actions can cause one so small.
It is commendable, Tate that you did.

The emotional depth and honesty of this piece is just superb. I can see the importance that you place upon your nature as a father and as a creator of life, which I find so very admirable. I love the last stanza and i think it wraps up the poem nicely. Though I don't have kids myself, I can feel the joy of your poems talking about your children and how you want the best life for them, making sure that they learn from your mistakes and create a good character of themselves. I enjoy the authors note where you said "only then do we fear the truth and realize our actions have consequences."--it's amazing how having a child really does shape and mold a person into a whole new type of character. your life will never be the same, but for the better!
